Pair of lifting beams

I made a pair of lifting beams out of 6”x10.5# channel and 1/2” plate for the crane hole and spacers. Used the GoFab to cut square holes in the channels. I made one cut file to cut the holes out of the channels and another to cut the crane hole and spacers out of 8”x1/2” flat bar, then bolted it all together with 1/2” carriage bolts.

I got a pair of 1320 pound ones hoping to move a 4x8 3/8” plate. I’ll let you know how that works out.

Do they not pick up more than one sheet at a time? That's why I haven't considered them. I thought they would pick up multiple sheets of thinner material?

They will try to pick up multiple sheets, but you can just slide a piece of wood between the sheets before you turn the magnet on. According to the chart on the side, they lose effectiveness quickly the thinner you go, so buy oversized accordingly. I've been sliding sheets onto the legs of my engine crane and picking up from there.
