Just got my table running but might have a problem

Post by Warrenh » Mon May 20, 2019 12:10 am

I got my table on and it is responding to the tablet but I'm getting a knocking sound as it moves and I can feel it in the gantry. Also both motors are getting warm. Is this normal?

Thumping is normal but idk about your motors getting warm. Check that your motors move down and back up freely i had to adjust mine

Thanks for the reply. Is the adjustment obvious. I haven't looked at it too much. I did move them down to put the gantry on. Do you know what caused the thumping sound?

I think i was told something to do with the motors i don't remember but mine does it as well but it cuts vary well. As long as you got a level you want to put a level on top if the gantry. Then home it. Go to the back of it and be ready because it's not easy to do by your self hold it and loosen the bearings your be able to move the gantry up and down. Keep this on your maintenance list because mine loosened up on me once nothing good happened lol. so i check before every run so i make sure everything is level. I push off a lot of jobs on mine.

The thumping sound as it moves when using the arrow buttons on the tablet is just from the controller blipping the pulses to the motors and is normal. It shouldn't do it while cutting. Warm motors is also normal, but they shouldn't get scalding hot. My z-axis motor in particular gets pretty hot.

I'd you're getting a knocking sound while cutting, watch each pinion on the racks as they turn and see if a screw or something is bumping into the rack.

I've had a knocking sound from this screw hitting the rack when the motor was too close to the rack.

It turns out it was a loose nut on the tablet. (Me). So everything was normal. Thanks for all the responses.
